About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join a growing General Contractor based in Gainesville, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established business delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects across Florida.
The successful candidate will play a key role in securing new work by preparing accurate, competitive estimates while working closely with operations, project management, clients, architects, and subcontractors from concept through to project award.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop complete bid packages and scope comparisons.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project cost and constructability.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and owners.
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
- Assist with budgeting during preconstruction and conceptual estimating.
- Analyse project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies.
- Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, labour trends, and market conditions throughout Florida.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to improve future estimating accuracy.
Requirements
- 2 years of estimating experience with a commercial General Contractor.
- Experience estimating ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, and building systems.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience preparing estimates ranging from approximately $3M-$40M.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- High level of organisation with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative office environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with estimating software such as Procore Estimating, BuildingConnected, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, or similar platforms is preferred.

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
