We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Paralegal to support a busy litigation practice in Houston. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage high-volume casework, and is confident supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze pleadings, discovery, and case-related documents to support legal strategy
- Draft discovery requests, responses, and objections with minimal supervision
- Prepare pleadings and assist with motions, including Motions to Quash and Motions to Compel
- Draft and manage subpoenas
- Order, organize, and maintain medical and case records; track and update discovery logs
- Manage high-volume discovery and ensure deadlines are met
- Prepare attorneys for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including assembling comprehensive trial notebooks
- Maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines within firm systems
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience as a paralegal in insurance defense litigation
- Strong knowledge of discovery processes and drafting procedures
- Experience supporting cases from inception through trial
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload with strong attention to detail and organization
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Experience with document management and trial software, including Eclipse and Trial Director
- Familiarity with PerfectLaw for case management, calendaring, and file maintenance
