Pay Range: $130,000-$160,000 Per Year
Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Epic Technical Lead to oversee the technical execution, optimization, and long-term operational ownership of its Epic platform. This individual will be responsible for managing Epic technical domains and ensuring alignment with enterprise infrastructure initiatives to support a secure, scalable, and high-performing environment.
This position will provide hands-on leadership across technical teams and serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, Epic Technical Services, infrastructure teams, and clinical application teams. The role is instrumental in ensuring technical readiness, system performance, and operational success before, during, and after go-live activities.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Execution
- Provide hands-on oversight across Epic technical domains, including:
- Interfaces and integrations (HL7, APIs, third-party vendors)
- Epic hosting and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- End-user device readiness and deployment
- Environment management, release management, and system performance
- Change management and change control processes
- Business continuity and disaster recovery planning
- Lead technical design, configuration, validation, and implementation efforts
- Ensure Epic environments remain stable, scalable, and optimized
- Oversee technical readiness for testing, go-live, and post-go-live support activities
Team Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead and mentor technical resources across infrastructure and Epic-related teams
- Establish clear expectations and accountability for technical deliverables
- Align team responsibilities with organizational priorities and project timelines
- Provide guidance and escalation support for complex technical issues
- Promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Infrastructure & Enterprise Alignment
- Serve as the primary Epic technical liaison for enterprise infrastructure initiatives
- Ensure Epic-related impacts, dependencies, and support requirements are identified and addressed across initiatives such as:
- SD-WAN/network modernization
- Windows 11 enterprise upgrades
- Endpoint device standardization
- AWS Direct Connect implementations
- Partner with infrastructure leadership to:
- Align technical readiness with Epic project milestones
- Identify and mitigate risks across integrated initiatives
- Ensure appropriate coordination between technical teams
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the primary technical liaison between business stakeholders, Epic Technical Services, infrastructure teams, and clinical application teams
- Collaborate with project leadership to ensure technical alignment with broader program goals
- Support operational, clinical, and business stakeholders with technical planning and execution
- Clearly communicate technical risks, dependencies, and recommendations to leadership
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across technical and operational teams
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical owner for Epic infrastructure and environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and integration issues
- Lead technical validation, system readiness, and environment stability initiatives
- Support integrated testing, cutover planning, and post-go-live stabilization
- Ensure compliance with Epic standards, infrastructure best practices, and organizational policies
- Develop an understanding of operational workflows to support informed technical decision-making
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to system performance and technical operations
- Manage vendor and third-party relationships related to Epic and infrastructure services
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of healthcare IT experience with strong technical and infrastructure expertise
- Minimum of two full Epic implementations in a technical leadership capacity
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Epic technical architecture and environment management
- Healthcare interoperability and integrations
- Cloud hosting environments (AWS preferred)
- Enterprise networking and endpoint technologies
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Proven ability to work across both infrastructure and application domains
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Epic Data Courier Admin certification preferred
