Auto Mechanics

A mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles and machinery, using diagnostic equipment to identify issues and performing repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems. Key duties include routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations) and ensuring vehicles meet safety standards. Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Diagnostics:
  
  

Utilizing computerized diagnostic tools to identify mechanical or electrical malfunctions.

• Maintenance:
  
  

Performing routine services such as oil changes, fluid level checks, filter replacements, and tire rotations.

• Repair:
  
  

Repairing or replacing worn parts, including brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors, and steering components.

• Engine & System Work:
  
  

Repairing engines, transmissions, and drivebelts.

• Documentation:
  
  

Recording time, parts, and repairs performed, according to manufacturer or customer specifications.

• Customer Service:
  
  

Explaining automotive problems and repair options to clients.

• Safety:
  
  

Adhering to safety regulations, maintaining a clean workspace, and conducting road tests to verify repairs.

Requirements And Qualifications

• Education:
  
  

High school diploma or equivalent.

• Certification:
  
  

Vocational school training or ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is highly preferred.

• Experience:
  
  

Generally requires 2 years of experience in a professional repair setting.
