What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Driver /Sprayer- Seasonal/PT position at Mississippi Department of Employment Security?
- JOB OBJECTIVE**: Performs part-time skilled work in the application of approved chemicals to control immature and adult mosquitoes. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Mosquito Control Director and is reviewed through the inspection of records submitted and direct observation. Employees must be able to work day shift or night shift. Work may require performing diagnostics, adjustments, repairs, and/or overhauls of small engines used to power mosquito spray units and related equipment. This position is seasonal/part-time.
- Stores, mixes and applies pesticides in strict accordance with state and federal regulations. Uses safety equipment provided
- Maintains daily records
- Conducts field inspections to detect the presence of mosquitoes, sets and retrieves mosquito traps
- Learns to identify various mosquito species in both the adult and larval stages
- Keeps abreast of advancements in the mosquito control field through self-study and professional training courses
- Responsible for driving a regular size pick-up truck with a mosquito spray unit mounted on the back on established routes
- Performs other related duties as required
