Senior – Fund Accountant
Location: New York, NY (Midtown) | Hybrid: 3 days onsite
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
We’re seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team supporting private investment vehicles. This role works closely with the Partnership Controller and offers meaningful exposure to fund accounting, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support monthly close processes, including preparation of working papers, journal entries, trial balances, and allocation schedules.
- Review monthly and quarterly books and records prepared by third-party fund administrators.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual investor and regulatory reporting, including financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Maintain detailed schedules for key general ledger accounts such as cash, accrued expenses, debt financing, and accounts payable.
- Research U.S. GAAP accounting guidance and assist with drafting technical accounting memos for complex transactions.
- Respond to information requests from management, auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders.
- Partner with third-party consultants on the implementation of new systems and technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Legal, Tax, and Technology teams.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of public accounting or fund accounting experience (any industry; public clients preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application to private fund structures.
- Experience with private fund accounting (hedge funds, private equity, credit funds).
- Familiarity with limited partnership agreements and fund waterfall calculations.
- Advanced Excel skills; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- CPA or progress toward certification preferred, not required
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base: $115K–$150K
- Bonus: Performance-based
