Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Security Operations, the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining advanced security solutions across Mission Pet Health. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering, including the development of custom applications and automation using PowerShell and other scripting languages to improve security operations efficiency and effectiveness.
The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will proactively identify threats, develop scalable defenses, and enhance the organization’s overall security posture through innovation, automation, and secure system design.
Travel required: minimal, less than 5%

- Design, develop, and maintain custom cybersecurity tools and internal applications.
- Leverage AI to enhance cybersecurity capabilities.
- Ensure secure and responsible enterprise-wide adoption of AI.
- Build and manage scripts and automation workflows for security operations, identity lifecycle management, and system hardening.
- Engineer and implement security solutions across endpoints, identity platforms, and cloud environments.
- Lead advanced detection and response efforts, including analysis of sophisticated threats and incidents.
- Integrate security platforms (e.g., EDR, SIEM, IAM) through APIs and automation.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting and vulnerability identification.
- Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities.
- Support and enhance identity and access management systems including SSO, MFA, and RBAC.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to design secure systems and workflows.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and enterprise projects.
- Evaluate emerging threats and technologies to continuously improve security posture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities which are required to be able to perform the Essential Functions of this position.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, C#, or similar).
- Experience building custom tools or applications for security or IT operations.
- Deep knowledge of identity and access management (Azure AD / Entra ID, Active Directory).
- Strong understanding of authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML, SSO, MFA).
- Experience with security tooling such as EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management platforms.
- Knowledge of APIs, integrations, and secure development practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to mentor and train teammates.
The education level and amount of experience which are required to be able to perform the Essential Functions. This should include any required certifications and licenses.
- 5 years of cybersecurity engineering or related experience.
- 3 years of hands-on scripting/automation experience (PowerShell preferred).
- Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining custom tools or automation solutions.
- Real-world experience leveraging AI beyond simple query tools, focusing on practical implementation and integration into daily tasks
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, Security , or similar).
- Microsoft or Azure security certifications.
- Experience in cloud security (Azure preferred)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
