Payroll / HR Support Specialist
Location: Lompoc, CA
Job Description
Under the general direction of payroll management, you will be responsible for providing essential support to our HR and payroll functions. Your primary focus will be ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and addressing employee questions and needs. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Business preferred.
- 1 year of payroll processing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in computerized spreadsheets and word processing applications.
- Strong client service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, summarize, and verify timekeeping information from both digital and paper crew sheets.
- Obtain supervisory approvals for time discrepancies and overtime requests.
- Assist with HR tasks, including new hire orientation, ticket processing, employee benefits, and EDD documentation.
- Print, separate, and distribute paychecks; collect and file field-submitted checks.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in person and over the phone.
- Maintain up-to-date federal and state regulation posters.
- Process payroll-related requests, including sick pay, verifications, and employment records.
- Generate field labels and print required documents for supervisors.
- Support payroll operations by assembling and scanning payroll documents weekly.
- Download and organize incoming reports for supervisors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit.
- Frequent use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reaching with arms and hands.
