Salary Range: $18.02 - $23.07

Position Summary:
- The Lead reports to the Director of HIM.
- Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of HIM.
- Perform additional duties as listed below.
- Works well under stress or tight deadlines.
- Establishes and maintains effective, courteous, and respectful working relationships with patients, families, members of the medical and nursing staff as well as co-workers.

Position Duties/Responsibility:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring that tasks like medical record coding, release of information, and documentation compliance are handled promptly and accurately.
- Help balance workloads among team members and step in to address bottlenecks.
- Monitor daily operations- Oversee department is meeting regulations, standards and facility policies and report to Director.
- Acts as a go-to resource for coders, clerks, and other HIM staff.
- Help onboard new hires and provide ongoing training or mentorship.
- Help facilitate communication amongst the team and streamline workflows.
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years HIM experience.
- Certifications: RHIT Preferred.
- Skills/Ability:
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Safety requirements.
- Quality improvement principles.
- Maintain records in an organized manner.
- Maintain the department's CMS and California state accreditation.
- Establishes and maintains effective, positive working relations with departmental employees, hospital staff, medical staff and patients.
- Assures safe practices and techniques are used in the department.
- Communicates policies to hospital and dietary employees.
