Ward Clerk/Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA):
Requirements:
- Must pass state required physical, and TB test.
- Must be fingerprinted and free of conviction.
- Must have and maintain active California Certification for Nursing Assistants including staying current with educational requirements required for renewal.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, receive written and oral instructions and possess good interaction skills.
- Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Prior experience preferred.
Essential Job Functions and Resposibilities:
- Maintaining census and assignment documentation.
- Answer the phone and direct calls as appropriate in a courteous professional manner.
- Assist staff and residents with scheduling of campus events, medical referrals and beauty shop needs.
- Assist with resident care including assisting with meals daily and fulfilling Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) responsibilities as needed.
- Receives reports regarding the status of assigned residents at the beginning of the shift.
- Performs direct and indirect resident care activities as ordered and consistent with the facilities policies and procedures. Such activities include:
- Bathing residents (bed bath, tub, shower), Feeding residents, Dressing residents, Toileting residents, Assisting residents in grooming, (hair care, nail care, foot care, shaving), Skin care, Perineal care, Providing oral hygiene and denture care.
- Performs vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen, height and weight.
- Assists as necessary with toileting and records eliminations as required including catheter care.
- Measures Intake and Output.
- Collects urine and stool specimens.
- Assists residents as necessary with feeding and nourishment; provides fresh drinking water.
- Assists in transferring residents from any level to another. (bed, wheelchair, toilet, dining chair, etc.)
- Turns and repositions residents in bed.
- Lifting residents (manually and with mechanical lifts)
- Assists residents with ambulation, and use of walker, wheelchairs, canes, etc.
- Assists residents to and from activities.
- Maintain Resident Safety and Dignity while performing Activities of Daily Living.
- Makes beds both occupied and unoccupied.
- Answers resident call lights and electronic alarms.
- Reports changes in resident condition and appearance to floor nurse.
- Documents and charts as required using Point Click Care.
- Participates in staff meetings, inservices and other facility programs.
- Have knowledge of all disaster and safety plans and policies.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills with residents, family, professionals and staff acting in a professional manner at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
