Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team on the second shift. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to accurately bend and form sheet metal components according to precise specifications. Your expertise will ensure high-quality production, efficient workflow, and adherence to safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity for skilled machinists eager to contribute to a dynamic manufacturing environment focused on precision and craftsmanship This will include a $2.00 shift differential.
Duties
- Set up and operate press brake machines, ensuring proper tooling selection and machine calibration for each job.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine bend angles, dimensions, and sequence of operations.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions during and after production.
- Adjust machine parameters as needed to achieve exact specifications, maintaining tight tolerances throughout the process.
- Perform routine maintenance on press brake equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate workflow efficiently across fabrication processes such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling, and welding.
- Conduct quality inspections of finished parts using micrometers and other precision tools to ensure compliance with specifications before assembly or shipment.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating press brake machines with a strong understanding of tooling setups and bending techniques.
- Experience with CNC programming and CNC laser cutting for complex sheet metal fabrication projects.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes such as plasma cutting, welding, machining (CNC lathe/milling), stamping presses, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and assembly techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations.
- Understanding of safety procedures related to crane operation, tooling handling, sheet metal storage, and quality inspection protocols.
