Summary
Incumbents in this classification are responsible for assisting the Director in the management and administration of multiple work units within the Recreation Division.
Essential Functions
Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; responsible for management and programming for Warner Park and Summit softball centers, city-wide external leagues, tournaments and special sports events. Oversees sports services through the recreation centers; acts as a liaison to youth sports associations and adult sports organizations; manages other revenue/fee based facilities. Provides coordination and support for sports events provided through the Chattanooga Sports Commission; identifies sports service needs and applies possible resources.
Developing volunteer coaches and officials; and develops training for coaches and officials. Provides sports assistance to other work units in the Recreation division and provides assistance to the Recreation Division Director as needed.
Coordinates schedules, repairs, and maintenance issues with the Parks Division.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management, or related field and eight years responsible recreation management experience.
Valid class D Drivers License

All employees must be residents of Tennessee at time of hire.
All appointments are made at the beginning salary unless otherwise authorized.
