Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently using various payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, and other supported platforms.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws related to payroll tax, wage calculations, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update employee records within HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and payroll software to reflect changes in compensation, benefits, or employment status.
- Reconcile payroll data through analysis of spreadsheets, general ledger accounts, and accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar financial tools.
- Prepare journal entries for payroll transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger in accordance with double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while managing payroll data entry, tax filings, and employee payments.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve discrepancies related to time & attendance systems like Kronos or equivalent platforms.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes including account reconciliation and analysis of payroll reports to ensure accuracy.
- Stay updated on changes in tax law and labor regulations affecting payroll processing; implement necessary adjustments proactively.
Experience
- Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment or non-profit organization.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian or similar platforms supported by technical support teams.
- Strong understanding of employment & labor law, payroll tax law, governmental accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability with spreadsheets (Excel), financial software (QuickBooks or equivalent), and general ledger accounting practices including journal entries and account reconciliation.
- Familiarity with time & attendance systems and HRIS platforms used for payroll processing.
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion while managing data entry tasks efficiently.
- Analytical skills capable of performing detailed account reconciliation and financial analysis related to payroll transactions.
- Ability to perform high-volume data entry accurately using 10-key typing skills; knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping is a plus.
