What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Print Production Manager position at Minuteman Press?
The Print Production Manager is responsible for leading one of the most efficient medium-sized manufacturing sites in the printing industry. This leader oversees all site operations— related to digital printing, finishing and bindery, and support functions ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective products.
As a true business partner to the General Manager, this position will be responsible for the overall production performance, the Print Production Manager will develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operations information to the General Manager and make recommendations on both strategy and operational.
Responsibilities
- Lead the manufacturing site with accountability for safety, profitability, quality, delivery, operational excellence, and team performance.
- Always think five steps ahead to keep work moving smoothly and focus to have job out as fast as possible.
- Make sure that we do it right the first time, and eliminate any type of waste: time, ink, paper, resources, energy.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform basic repairs
- Manage vendors and decide the source for all inventory including paper, toner, ink, tools, consumables etc.
- Developing SOPs and training plans for new hires and cross-training existing staff.
- Managing paper stock, toners, Ink and paper with minimal waste.
- Elaborate tutorials for each machine and procedure, in order to help on boarding future operators
Experience
- Proven experience managing digital print production environments with a strong understanding of Fiery, Digital Printers and Bindery, minimum 3 years.
- Hands-on experience operating industrial equipment including cutting machines, paper binding tools, and machining devices.
- Familiarity with prepress processes including file preparation using prepress software for accurate color reproduction and layout design.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot printer issues or mechanical failures efficiently.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows related to print advertising or promotional materials.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to oversee multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- KPI Tracking & Reporting: Monitoring throughput, spoilage rates, uptime, and on-time delivery metrics.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Understanding job costing, overtime impact, and vendor negotiations.
