Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead operations, production processes, and product delivery for a designated manufacturing shift (1st or 2nd shift) at our Groton, CT facility. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, workforce development, lean manufacturing initiatives, productivity improvements, and on-time delivery performance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment along with expertise in lean operations, process optimization, production management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and hands-on leadership for daily manufacturing operations and assigned product lines.
- Lead, mentor, and develop production teams to ensure safety, productivity, quality, and performance objectives are achieved.
- Drive operational efficiency through standard hour achievement, recovery monitoring, and corrective action implementation.
- Optimize factory performance, manufacturing flow, tooling, fixtures, and equipment utilization to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to ensure operational goals and OTIF (On-Time In-Full) delivery targets are met.
- Recommend and implement capital improvement projects, new manufacturing methods, and productivity enhancement initiatives.
- Develop and execute continuous improvement and lean manufacturing strategies to improve competitiveness and operational performance.
- Analyze production metrics, identify performance gaps, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality systems, and operational procedures.
- Support workforce planning, employee engagement, training, and succession development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience with at least 2 years managing teams in a production environment.
- Equivalent combination of education and extensive manufacturing management experience (10 years) will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production optimization methodologies.
- Experience working within industrial manufacturing, aerospace, metals, castings, machining, or high-performance component environments preferred.
- Advanced communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ERP system knowledge and advanced computer proficiency.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
