This position will direct the field operations performed by any combination of worker classifications in order to provide a safe and functional highway system for the traveling public. The person in the position also must be able to effectively communicate, not only to the employees and supervisor, but with members of the public which can include adjacent property owners, users of the highway system, local officials, and persons from other government agencies. This position also requires the ability to develop and administer an operational work plan for the subarea, provide input for BARC, administer safety and awareness programs, and provide consistent and effective field maintenance operations between other work units in District 7 –East Operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement and no air brake restrictions.

AND

  • Two (2) years of experience (e.g. Transportation Generalist Senior, Transportation Specialist) or equivalent experience (e.g. lead on a construction crew, Construction or Plant Manager; military leaders) providing technical training and direction to staff, planning and coordinating work activities and lead work direction to road or construction crews. The project direction/lead work/supervision must include providing technical training and direction to other staff and planning/coordinating work activities.

OR

  • Four (4) years of experience on a road or construction crew (e.g. Transportation Generalist or equivalent experience).
  • A two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Business Administration; Construction Management, Land Surveying/Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of TGS experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating, inspecting, maintaining and repairing maintenance equipment.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products.

This position is contingent upon the selected job candidate having a valid Commercial Driver’s License, submits to a Federal Department of Transportation Pre-employment drug test (with negative test results), is subject to future random drug and alcohol testing and is registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
