What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer position at Minnesota Department of Transportation?
This position exists to provide professional engineering leadership for: Utility Coordination, Project Management, and Detail Design for the design and development of construction plans for MnDOT District 8.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE: This vacancy is being announced at two different job classes at the same time: Engineer Senior and Engineer 2 Graduate. Only one position will be filled; the final class and starting salary of this position is dependent on the successful applicant’s qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications - Engineer Senior:
- Applicants must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
- Class D Driver’s License if driving a state vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications - Engineer 2 Graduate:
- A bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES;
- A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Two (2) years post-graduation civil engineering work.
OR
- A Master’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES
- A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- One (1) year of post-graduate civil engineering work.
OR
- Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam.
