What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Media Preparation Technician position at Millstone Medical Outsourcing?
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Media Preparation Technician will assist the Laboratory Kitchen personnel. The technician will be required to assist with the following:
- Prepare media according to standard recipes
- Perform sterilization
- Clean laboratory glassware
- Calibrations or daily verifications
- General Laboratory preventative maintenance
- Pour agar
- Stock the laboratory and cleanroom
- Maintain associated kitchen records for the Laboratory
Quality system training will be provided. Due to small company structure, the position may require additional support as needed in other areas of day-to-day laboratory operation. Teamwork is crucial to our success.
The position requires a high school graduate or GED, basic math skills and an ability to communicate with others. Basic knowledge of computer programs such as MS word is desirable. Millstone Medical Testing-CT retains the right to request random drug screenings.
NOTE: This position requires employee to be on their feet the majority of the day. This position requires the handling of viable microorganisms. Individuals with severe allergies or compromised immune systems are not acceptable for this position.
