Cost Accountant | Client Opportunity in Food Manufacturing
Our client, a growing manufacturing organization within the consumer food sector, is seeking a Cost Accountant to support financial performance and cost visibility within a high-volume production environment. This role is highly operational and works closely with plant leadership to analyze data, improve cost structures, and enhance financial outcomes.
Role Overview
This individual will serve as a key financial partner to plant operations, supporting accurate cost tracking, financial reporting, and performance analysis. The role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate production data into actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standard costing structures for products and new launches
- Perform cost variance analysis to compare actual vs. expected production costs
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify cost drivers and efficiency opportunities
- Support monthly close activities, including financial reporting and reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost tracking within systems
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility and control
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and plant performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 years of experience in cost accounting or a related finance role
- Experience in manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets
- Ability to communicate financial insights to both technical and non-technical teams
