Lower School Teacher (K-5)

Millennium Charter Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in Mt. Airy, NC. Our mission is to form intelligent, virtuous citizens through classical education. MCA teachers understand and support the classical tradition as expressed by the philosophy, mission, and vision upon which the Academy is founded and are committed to pursuing what is true, doing what is good, and loving what is beautiful. Position Description 1.Improve each student’s ability to read, write, compute, speak and problem solve; monitor and document this progress through a variety of assessment techniques. 2.Implement the school’s curriculum in a classical and engaging manner to maximize student’s educational experience. 3.Orient and provide leadership and supervise assistants and volunteers. 4.Maintain compliance with classroom budgets, including expenses, student work product and student accountability. 5.Perform accurate and timely accounting of student activities. 6.Demonstrate evidence of team building, collaboration, creative problem solving, flexibility, conflict resolution, and genuine care for each student, become comfortable and confident in the chosen curriculum through training and research. 7.Provide adequate classroom discipline to enhance the learning environment. 8.Emphasize the virtues of integrity, respect, responsibility, compassion, commitment, self-discipline, perseverance, and service to others. 9.Be familiar with the Millennium Charter Academy personnel policy handbook and act in accordance with it. 10.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on responsibilities outside of the classroom to help foster the school’s culture and community.
