Position Summary
Millbrook School seeks a NYS-accredited school counselor to begin in February 2026. This position will report to the Director of Counseling and Dean of Student Engagement and is responsible for individual student support sessions, student support in times of need, coordination of outside mental healthcare, and supporting overall student health and wellness on campus. This role requires the individual to respect the privacy and confidentiality of students by adhering to rules, regulations, and the code of ethics of the NASW while also maintaining the dignity and respect of our students and simultaneously upholding Millbrook School's mission. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and excited to work with young people, will possess strong organizational and communication skills, and will demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusivity. This is a part-time position and will require 2-3 days per week on campus.
Counseling Responsibilities
- Conduct individual support sessions for students.
- Respond to students in need of a spontaneous, heightened level of care. (crisis or at-risk)
- Assist in the coordination of continual outside mental health support for students in conjunction with parents and outside providers to best meet the social and emotional needs of students.
- Help optimize the health and wellness of the Millbrook School community by designing and implementing educational training for faculty. Training includes but is not limited to: overall adolescent development, trauma-informed teaching, LGBTQ teens, mindfulness practices, and overall health and wellness practices.
- Oversee the facilitation and coordination of Wellness Leaves in conjunction with the Health Center and Office of Student Life.
- Work in conjunction with DEI office to educate, promote, and celebrate the inclusion and respect of a diverse student and faculty population.
- Participate in frequent team meetings. (Core Health Team, Dr. Caroline Salas-Humara, III Form Staffing, Enrollment Management Team, Office of Student Life)
- Collaborate in conjunction with the Health Center, parents, and outside providers to assist students in maintaining medication therapy management.
- Maintain records as required.

Qualifications
- MSW.
- NYS-accredited licensure.
- Must be able to work collegially and be proficient in digital technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google suite products.
- Must be committed to working with young people in a diverse community and be able to communicate with a diverse population.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must have the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must have patience, tact, and enthusiasm when dealing with personnel, students, and families.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (with or without the aid of a mechanic device)
- Must function independently and be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to work in person, on campus.
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology, teaching methods and/or schedules.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical office and classroom conditions.
- Bursts of heavy traffic, congestion, and teenage exuberance throughout the day.
Pay: $15, $20,000.00 per year
