As an sales representative in the fireplace division of Mill Creek, you will be an integral part of our sales team, providing exceptional customer service and driving fireplace sales. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers in person, over the phone, and on location while accurately processing orders, and ensuring a seamless experience for all customers. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced sales environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers, builders, contractors, and designers with a warm, professional demeanor, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience in the showroom, on job sites, and in the field. Listen attentively to customer needs and deliver exceptional service by answering questions, offering product recommendations, preparing solutions, and resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail customers, trade partners, and prospects through in-person visits, phone calls, email communication, and follow-up. Proactively develop new business opportunities while nurturing existing accounts.
- Accurately prepare and present quotes, estimates, and proposals for fireplace products and related accessories. Clearly communicate pricing, lead times, specifications, and installation considerations while guiding customers through the decision-making process.
- Process customer orders with precision, ensuring all details are captured correctly and in a timely manner. Utilize the point-of-sale (POS) and internal systems to enter product information, calculate pricing, apply discounts, and generate invoices or receipts.
- Verify product availability, confirm delivery or pickup schedules, and coordinate order fulfillment with warehouse, delivery, installation, and other departments as needed to ensure smooth execution.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Mill Creek’s fireplace and related product offerings. Stay informed on industry trends, new products, codes, and specifications to confidently provide accurate guidance and tailored solutions.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate fireplace products based on their design preferences, budget, and project requirements, including reviewing plans when applicable and helping match products to residential or commercial applications.
- Proactively identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell complementary products, accessories, services, or upgrades that enhance the customer’s project and overall experience.
- Conduct jobsite visits or field consultations as needed to assess project conditions, gather measurements, verify installation requirements, and support customers throughout the sales process.
- Monitor inventory levels, track popular items, and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate departments. Assist with restocking shelves, organizing displays, and completing inventory counts to maintain an efficient and visually appealing showroom.
- Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, and follow-up notes in company systems to support forecasting, relationship management, and ongoing communication.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across sales, operations, installation, and delivery to ensure seamless project coordination and customer satisfaction. Share customer feedback, product insights, and market trends with the team.
- Assist team members during peak periods, contribute to a positive and professional work environment, and actively participate in training and development opportunities to continuously improve product knowledge and sales skills.
- Represent Mill Creek professionally in all customer interactions, both in the showroom and in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in customer service or sales, preferably in the building supply industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with customers.
- Strong product knowledge and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new product lines and specifications.
- Demonstrated sales abilities, with a track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets.
- Proficient computer skills, including point-of-sale (POS) systems and order processing software.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift moderately heavy items throughout the workday.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
