Responsibilities
- Process patient billing and insurance claims accurately and efficiently
- Review Patient Care Reports, assign ICD-10 and CPT codes accurately
- Submit claims in compliance with industry protocols
- Review medical records for completeness and accuracy before billing
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 for diagnosis coding and DRG for procedure coding
- Handle medical collections, including following up on unpaid claims and patient balances
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies or issues
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation is in place for billing purposes
- Assist in the management of medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations
- Must have 2-3 years of medical Billing
- Must have experience with NYS Medicaid Billing guidelines
- Proficiency in medical office procedures and practices
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance claim submissions
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding, DRG systems, and other relevant coding methodologies
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and its application in billing
- Ability to work with various billing systems and software efficiently
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and record management
- Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
