Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Biller/Collector to join our healthcare administrative team. Your expertise in medical coding, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding, will be essential to maintaining efficient revenue cycle management. Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims utilizing appropriate medical coding including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Review and verify medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with billing standards and regulations.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly to facilitate timely reimbursement.
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries and collections.
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking outstanding balances and initiating collection efforts for overdue payments.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and privacy policies during all billing processes.
- Assist in resolving billing discrepancies by analyzing medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting is required.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record management is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform medical coding accurately and efficiently while adhering to industry standards.
- Prior experience in handling medical collections with effective communication skills to negotiate payment arrangements.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance protocols, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
