Position Summary
Midwest Hose is seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant to the Distribution Department. This position provides administrative and operational support to the Distribution department, ensuring efficient day-to-day office operations and accurate coordination of shipping, receiving, and customer documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment, has strong organizational skills, and enjoys keeping processes running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Distribution Manager in daily administrative tasks.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain shipping and receiving documentation.
- Enter and update orders, inventory, and shipment information in company systems.
- Coordinate with customers, carriers and warehouse personnel regarding shipments and deliveries.
- Answer phones and emails related to logistics and transportation.
- Track shipments and communicate delivery updates as needed.
- Maintain accurate filing systems, both digital and paper.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other documentation for management.
- Support inventory recordkeeping and data entry.
- Perform general office duties including copying, scanning, filing, and document preparation.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous office, administrative, customer service, or logistics experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Professional attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Experience with shipping software or ERP systems is a plus but not required.
