Midwest Behavioral Health Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of our healthcare facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and fully operational environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.
The ideal candidate will possess broad maintenance experience and the ability to troubleshoot and repair building systems independently. This is a hands-on position requiring expertise across multiple trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
What You'll Do
Maintain Building Systems & Equipment
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of facility systems and equipment.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, heating systems, ventilation equipment, and air conditioning systems.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, drains, and water supply issues.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic electrical repairs, including lighting, outlets, switches, and equipment connections.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
Keep the Facility Safe & Functional
- Complete drywall repairs, painting, carpentry work, and general building improvements.
- Maintain facility grounds and exterior areas as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Assist with facility renovations, equipment installations, and special projects.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
Support Facility Operations
- Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, building codes, and healthcare facility standards.
Help Build Something Special
- Support the continued growth and development of a new behavioral health facility.
- Contribute to creating a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Identify opportunities to improve facility operations, efficiency, and safety.
What We're Looking For
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three (3) years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or related experience.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, boiler systems, plumbing, electrical systems, drywall, and general building repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including climbing ladders, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred
- HVAC certification.
- Boiler operator experience or certification.
- Electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trade experience.
- Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, hospital, or institutional facilities.
- OSHA safety training or certification.
