Position Function/Purpose To aid in the maintenance of the safety and security of property, employees, students, and visitors of the school district. To facilitate the efficient operation of the department office and provide clerical services to the Chief of Police and other staff members. |

Major Responsibilities 1. Process MISD Police reports and citations 2. Compile information for and prepare the monthly Uniform Crime report to Austin 3. Maintain monthly logs of incidents/offenses and arrests 4. Collect time cards and prepare payroll for security and police officers; arrange to collect payment for extra duty security assignments 5. Issue purchase orders and maintain budget files 6. Serve as department TCIC/NCIC Terminal Agency Coordinator 7. Keep attendance records and comp time records for all department personnel; workman’s comp claims 8. Maintain confidential offender records (adult and juvenile); 9. Type and process all paperwork for transferring, terminating or hiring personnel 10. Order and maintain inventory of office supplies, officer uniforms and duty gear; process print requisitions 11. Make travel arrangements for the Chief and other department personnel as needed 12. Serve as department records management officer 13. Answer telephone, screen calls and/or direct to appropriate department personnel 14. Type reports, correspondence and memos for the Chief and other department personnel as needed 15. Organize random schedule for campus visits of drug/weapons dog(s); maintain search hours slips for billing verification 16. Act as back-up/substitute dispatcher (telephone and radio duties; operate TLETS computer system; operate law enforcement CAD system) 17. Ability to work “flex-hours” as determined by the Chief based on departmental needs and/or activities 18. Log juvenile arrest reports Process reports needed for expulsion packets 19. Monitor district cameras 20. Compile data for tobacco grant 21. Generate work orders 22. Input data as required for the racial profiling report

Qualification Requirements 1. Knowledge of Texas police communications systems 2. Knowledge of all office skills, including good computer skills 3. Excellent verbal, written and telephone skills 4. Ability to work independently with frequent interruptions; self-motivated 5. Ability to work and communicate effectively with MISD staff, parents, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public 6. Knowledge of laws and regulations and policies regarding the maintaining, retention and release of police records and information |
