Overview:
Middlesex County is seeking candidates to serve as COORDINATOR of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), the Sexual Assault Response Team/Blood Flow Restriction Event Advocacy Treatment Help Empowerment (BREATHE) Team and the Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) Program. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the SART/BREATHE/FNE Teams/Programs, including management of budgets, grants, staff, facilities and programs. The COORDINATOR is responsible for conducting forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault and strangulation, ensuring all victims are treated compassionately and receive the necessary comprehensive treatment, and working closely with staff from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office as well as other law enforcement agencies, the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) comprised of law enforcement officials, confidential sexual violence advocates and emergency room personnel. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $90,000. to $100,000., a vehicle to be utilized for work related purposes, plus health and fringe benefits.

The COORDINATOR duties and responsibilities include but is not limited to:
Manage and provide supervision over contracted FNE’s
Perform administrative tasks and duties associated with all related programs.
Administer and manage the VOCA-SART grant, as well as any other grant(s) related to these programs.
Coordinate the development, review, and update of the policies and procedures used to perform physical exams on sexual assault victims, collect evidence, and delivery services.
Identify and coordinate research activities to improve services provided.
Ensure that program objectives are being met.
Recruit, select with the approval from the team, train, and evaluate the performance of nurse examiners responsible for performing physical and forensic exams on sexual assault victims and collecting evidence.
Develop and coordinate training for nurse examiners.
Serve as a resource person to those who are directly/indirectly involved in providing care to sexual assault victims.
Coordinate staffing schedules and cover any gap in scheduling.
Supervise and conduct physical and forensic exams on sexual assault victims.
Identify and facilitate care for injuries that require medical treatment.
Collect, process, and maintain chain of custody for clinical/nonclinical evidence and related documentation.
Provide evidentiary data, retrieve and transport documents, serve as a fact and expert witness, and facilitate communications between hospitals, nurse examiners, law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and others.
Develop public relation plans, and conduct educational and awareness programs for law enforcement, advocates, hospital staff, and the community.
Establish agreements with area hospitals to provide services to sexual assault victims, and clinical training for nurse examiners.
Oversee SART sites.
Schedule SART Advisory Board Meetings.
Attend State SART coordinator meetings, as required.
Attend MDT Meetings, as required.
Maintain the budget information, prepare the annual budget, and seek external funding sources.
Maintain statistical data and prepare reports.
Maintain records and files in computer-based program.
Recruit candidates to potentially serve as FNE’s.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Coordinate with area hospitals for securing examination rooms and maintaining the security and equipment contained in those rooms.
Ensuring that all specimens are collected, handled and stored in accordance with established evidentiary standards/best practices.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing recognized by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
Completion of a Forensic Nurse Examiner Program.

LICENSE:
