Position Summary:

The Field Manager leads a crew of frontline electricians—typically 6 to 12 direct reports—and leads the day-to-day service relationship with the customer accounts that crew serves. The role is accountable for the people (recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and retaining electricians), the customer (serving as the primary day-to-day point of contact, understanding customer needs, resolving concerns, and driving growth and retention of assigned accounts in coordination with Sales), and the work (coordinating with Operations, Project Management, field leadership, Procurement, Accounting, and company management so services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to customer expectations). Growing and developing our own electricians is a core expectation of this role. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and customer relationship skills and a working knowledge of electrical services, oilfield operations, and industrial environments.

Essential Functions:

Team Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Directly supervise and lead a team of frontline electricians and field personnel assigned to the account, typically 6 to 12 direct reports, including crew scheduling, workload, and assignments in partnership with Operations and field leadership.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire electricians and field personnel; make or recommend hiring, disciplinary, and termination decisions in coordination with Operations and Human Resources.
  • Onboard new employees and ensure they understand company expectations, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and hands-on coaching; identify skill gaps and coordinate the training, certifications, and advancement opportunities that help electricians progress in their careers, including promotion of high performers into foreman and leadership roles.
  • Conduct periodic and annual performance evaluations, set clear performance and development goals, recognize and reward strong performance, and address performance and conduct concerns promptly, fairly, and consistently.
  • Monitor crew productivity, work quality, and adherence to safety and company policies.
  • Ensure electricians have the tools, resources, direction, and support they need to succeed, and serve as a resource and advocate for assigned employees.
  • Foster a positive, safety-first, and accountable team culture that reflects Expanse Electricals values and its commitment to building a skilled, loyal, long-tenured workforce from within.
  • Remain available and responsive to both employees and customers, including outside standard business hours, to address urgent needs, questions, and concerns.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts and represent Expanse Electrical professionally in all customer interactions.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with customer representatives at the field, operational, and corporate levels.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of each customer’s operations, expectations, processes, site requirements, and contractual requirements (documentation, reporting, invoicing, safety, and quality), and communicate changes internally as they occur.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding service needs, project activity, performance, and upcoming work.
  • Identify and address customer concerns—service, quality, scheduling, billing, or operational—before they affect the relationship; coordinate resolution with the appropriate internal departments, escalate significant concerns to management, and follow up with the customer to confirm resolution.
  • Identify recurring customer concerns and work with the appropriate departments to develop corrective actions.
  • Complete customer service and work-quality surveys and participate in quarterly customer reviews, communicating relevant findings to company leadership.

Account Development

  • Understand the full range of Expanse Electricals capabilities and identify and pursue opportunities to expand electrical, industrial, automation, powerline, or other services within existing accounts, including new locations, projects, and service lines.
  • Monitor customer activity and geographic expansion to identify upcoming projects and service needs and support forecasting of potential customer work.
  • Communicate unserved customer needs and potential new work to Sales and company leadership.
  • Develop or support proposals, estimates, pricing, and service solutions with Sales, Estimating, and management, within established pricing authority, and follow up on customer requests, proposals, and potential opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive activity within assigned accounts.

Operational Coordination

  • Communicate customer priorities, expectations, and commitments to Project Managers, Foremen, Operations, and other internal personnel, and ensure they are understood and addressed.
  • Monitor active work for assigned customers, obtain status updates from Operations, and keep customers informed of project and service status.
  • Support communication between customers and field leadership when scope or service requirements change, including change-order and additional-work communication.
  • Participate in customer, operational, and project meetings as required.

Account Performance, Reporting & Billing Support

  • Monitor overall account performance, customer satisfaction, and service-quality trends, and participate in periodic account reviews with company leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts, communications, opportunities, concerns, open requests, and follow-up activity, and prepare account updates and reports for management as required.
  • Work with Accounting and Operations Support to resolve customer billing questions, Accounts Receivable issues, and outstanding balances, and maintain communication with customer representatives on unresolved billing matters.
  • Identify customer-specific billing documentation requirements and coordinate internally to resolve missing, incomplete, or discrepant invoices, T&M tickets, purchase orders, or other supporting documentation.
  • Communicate significant A/R issues within assigned accounts to appropriate management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of electrical construction, service, and maintenance operations; electrical terminology; and safety and quality expectations in oilfield and industrial environments.
  • Understanding of project and service delivery, basic estimating and proposal, and customer billing and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Customer relationship and account-management principles, including sales and business-development fundamentals and the ability to identify customer needs and translate them into actionable internal requirements.
  • Team leadership and supervision, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and employee-relations fundamentals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a customer’s organization and across internal departments.
  • Strong organization, follow-up, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and requests simultaneously.
  • Sound, consistent judgment in hiring, discipline, termination, and escalation decisions; maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Motivated self-starter who works independently while keeping company leadership informed and adapts to changing customer and operational requirements.
  • Ability to interpret site plans, P&IDs, and Scopes of Work (SOWs) and translate them into clear direction for field execution.
  • Presentation, meeting-facilitation, reporting, and documentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and applicable company systems.
  • Ability to travel to customer and project locations as required.
