Job Summary
The Global Exchange Academy (GlobalX) is seeking Swim Instructors for our Summer Programs. Swim Instructors will provide engaging and structured swim lessons for students ages 4 through grade 5, ensuring a safe and supportive aquatic learning environment. Under the supervision of the Pool Manager and Head Lifeguard, Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching proper swimming techniques, water safety skills, and stroke development while fostering confidence and enthusiasm in young swimmers.

Position Details
- Program Duration: Up to 5 weeks during Summer Programs (dates may vary)
- Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM (hours may vary)
- Orientation: Mandatory in-person session
- Plan and conduct age-appropriate swim lessons tailored to various skill levels.
- Teach fundamental swimming techniques, stroke refinement, and water safety.
- Supervise students in and around the pool to ensure a safe environment.
- Provide positive reinforcement and individualized instruction to help students progress.
- Take precautions to prevent dangerous situations.
- Recognize correct and incorrect skill ability and know how to make correct changes to enhance their skill ability.
- Handle minor discipline problems and deal with them quickly and effectively.
- Give thorough, precise and clear explanations.
- Work toward giving accurate expert instruction.
- Provide quality demonstrations of skills.
- Provide specific corrective feedback.
- Communicate effectively with young children.
- Provide sufficient practice time to increase skill ability level.
- Handle basic emergency procedures for water accidents.
- Enforce all pool rules and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and fellow instructors.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Pool Manager and/or Head Lifeguard.
- Regular and predictable attendance at work.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 16-years-old with a valid work permit.
- Be able to teach toward established objectives and effectively manage five students for up to 60 minutes per class.
- Strong swimming skills and understanding of water safety practices.
- Be willing to work at being a good/better instructor.
- Take corrective feedback from the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard and make positive adjustments.
- Prior experience teaching swim lessons or working with children in an aquatic setting.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Experience working with students of all ages.
- Strong verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
