Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Staff Direction & Leadership.
- Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate a team of cremation technicians, drivers, and support staff.
- Provide daily guidance, performance feedback, coaching, and conflict resolution to ensure a positive, professional team environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions on cremation procedures, safety protocols, and compassionate client interaction.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and developing staff to maintain high standards of care and efficiency.
- Oversee the full cremation workflow, including intake of deceased pets, preparation, individual/private & Communal cremations, processing of remains, and return of ashes to clients or vets.
- Ensure accurate identification, tracking, and documentation of every pet throughout the process to prevent errors and maintain trust.
- Operate and maintain crematory equipment safely and efficiently; perform routine checks, basic troubleshooting, and coordinate repairs/maintenance as needed.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, state veterinary board rules, local ordinances).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partnered veterinary clinics; Help manage scheduling for pickups, deliveries of remains/urns, and any special requests.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with vet staff to ensure smooth, timely service coordination and resolve any issues promptly.
- Handle logistics for after-hours/emergency pickups, transport coordination, and communication regarding service status.
- Track and report on clinic-related metrics (e.g., volume, turnaround times) to support ongoing partnerships.
- Be proficient, capable, and safe in driving all over Central Oregon in all weather conditions.
- Be comfortable with backing up a pickup truck into small parking spaces.
- Riding along with and performing training with new staff on all of the above requirements of driving.
- Monitor inventory of supplies (urns, memorial items, packaging, cleaning materials) and coordinate reordering.
- Assist with client communications when needed, providing compassionate support and information about services.
- Maintain clean, organized, and respectful facility conditions; perform or delegate opening/closing duties.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, including cremation logs, chain-of-custody forms, and compliance documentation
- Participate in quality-control reviews and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in pet cremation, animal handling, or operations preferred.
- 2 years of experience in pet cremation, veterinary aftercare, animal services, or a related hands-on supervisory role.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a small team in a compassionate, detail-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive situations empathetically.
- Comfortable with physical work (lifting to 50–75 lbs., standing for extended periods).
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and being insurable to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Experience working directly with veterinary clinics or in pet loss services.
- Knowledge of crematory equipment operation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with pet memorial products/services (urns, paw prints, etc.).
- Basic computer skills (scheduling software, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, record-keeping systems).
- Compassion and emotional intelligence when dealing with pet loss.
- Reliability, integrity, and commitment to dignity in every pet's care.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, sometimes emotionally charged setting.
- The role is hands-on supervisory rather than full executive management. It covers staff direction, training, and coordination
