SCALE OPERATIONS
Exciting Opportunity to work as a Scale Operator or at a busy, Columbia area scrap metal and recycling plant. This position will be responsible for weighing in and out customers a platform scale, administering and documenting weights as well as communicating and directing customers to appropriate areas. Previous scale operation experience is helpful, however not required. Experience within the customer service and transportation industry is helpful. This is a crossover position that could have this employee work in two areas at times. Hours of operation are from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday. Overtime is available. Hourly pay range is from $20-$23 to start. Depending on experience. A bonus and incentive plan is available to all employees.
- Job Duties:
· Inspect loads and query customers. Enter load information, customer/truck information into the computer and operate computerized truck scale or platform scale. Working in the platform scale receiving area will require lifting of approximately 30-45 pounds.
· Instruct customers/trucks to the appropriate unloading areas.
· Process scale tickets to be assigned to each load.
· Maintains weight tickets for all loads, accurately performs routine data entry and makes basic mathematical calculations and keeps accurate records.
· Steel toe boots are required.
Qualifications:
· HS Diploma or GED plus 2 years warehouse or logistics.
· Administrative abilities: Must be able to perform basic computer operations and other equipment such as printers, scanners.
· Customer Service experience is helpful.
· This position could assist in the warehouse at different times and will be required to operate a forklift. Forklift training and certification is provided.
· Previous experience as a scale operator or experience within the customer service and/or transportation industry is helpful.
· Must possess a valid drivers license.
