Job Description
- The Senior Buyer will assist in developing procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and supplier performance.
- Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials including botanical extracts, actives, oils, packaging components, excipients, and other specialty ingredients.
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers based on quality, safety, service, and cost competitiveness.
- Maintain an optimal supply base and develop strategic supplier relationships that support business growth.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers to track performance, pricing, lead times, and quality.
- Resolve supply issues, delays, and discrepancies in collaboration with Quality, R&D, and Production teams.
- Monitor market trends, availability, and pricing fluctuations for critical raw material categories.
- Manage inventory levels in partnership with Planning to ensure sufficient supply while reducing excess/obsolete materials.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and long-term contracts where beneficial.
- Identify continuous cost improvement opportunities without compromising quality.
- Work closely with R&D and Formulation teams on new product development, ingredient sourcing, and approval of new raw materials.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure suppliers meet regulatory and compliance standards (GMP, FDA, cGMP, ISO, etc. as applicable).
- Support Operations and Production with timely material availability and supply risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data, forecasts, and procurement KPIs.
- Utilize ERP systems to manage purchase orders, inventory, lead times, and supplier records.
- Prepare reports on cost savings, sourcing strategies, and supply chain risks.

The Successful Applicant
A Successful Senior Buyer Should Have
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in cosmetics, nutraceuticals, personal care, pharmaceuticals, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of raw materials used in formulation-driven industries.
- Proven negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and MS Office.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (FDA, cGMP, ISO).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to cosmetic and nutraceutical ingredients.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, or related field is preferred.
