Being in business for over 80 years, our client is a manufacturer for the aerospace industry. They offer unique and specialized engineered components that are used for aerospace, marine, ordnance, nuclear, precision and commercial applications. Due to exciting growth, they are seeking an experience quality engineer/CMM Programmer as they are currently in the process of bringing in a plethora of new equipment.
Job Description
This role focuses on building and refining measurement programs that support daily production and tooling needs. The work involves using CAD models and engineering drawings to guide inspection activities and ensure parts meet all required features.
What This Person Will Do
- Develop new inspection routines in PcDMIS or Verisurf that support scheduled work.
- Update and streamline existing programs to improve cycle time and overall efficiency.
- Keep the CMM area clean and organized to maintain a controlled inspection environment.
- Troubleshoot issues with measurement programs, whether created offline or at the machine.
- Read and apply GD&T requirements from ASME or ISO standards to confirm every feature is checked correctly.
- Prepare full First Article Inspection reports following aerospace formats.
- Carry out hands-on measurements using tools like micrometers, calipers, optical devices and other gauges.
- Run leak testing when needed.
- Mark up prints and plan future inspections using High QA tools.
- Confirm parts meet customer, industry and internal specifications.
- Review or create manufacturing and test documentation as required.
- Share inspection results with supervisors and customers in a clear, professional way.
- Work with customer representatives, auditors and suppliers on part verification tasks.
- Inspect castings to confirm geometry.
- Perform routine care on CMMs and assist with internal gauge calibration.
- Write work instructions that support inspection activities.
- Use lifting equipment to move parts and tooling safely.
- Support the design of fixtures that improve measurement consistency.
- Carry out correlation studies and Gage R&R work.
- Enter and maintain inspection details in planning and reporting systems.
The Successful Applicant
- Basic machining and manufacturing skills and understanding.
- Aerospace and Defense Industry knowledge and experience.
- Experienced in PcDMIS and/or Verisurf software.
- Experience in a production part or tooling environment.
- Experience in viewing models in a 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).
- Compensation up to $100,000, dependent on experience
