About Our Client

Our client is a mid-to-large EPC firm with a robust pipeline of transmission, substation, and power plant projects across the U.S. They work on everything from greenfield substations to generation upgrades, including renewable interconnects, so you'd get exposure to multiple project types and clients.

Job Description

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for:
• Transmission lines (69kV-500kV)
• Substations (AIS & GIS)
• Power plant projects (new build, upgrades, maintenance outages)
• Analyze drawings, specs, and bid documents to develop accurate takeoffs and pricing
• Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical scopes
• Develop and maintain unit cost databases for T&D and generation work
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate assumptions
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids
• Support EPC and design-build proposals from conceptual through final bid submission
• Identify risk factors and develop contingencies for complex utility and generation projects
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions

The Successful Applicant

A Successful Estimator Should Have

• Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost assessments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, one-lines, and civil/structural plans
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and utility/industry standards
• Familiarity with EPC bid process, subcontractor/vendor evaluation, and project cost analysis
