Job Description
Safety Leadership
- Champion a "safety-first" culture for all MEP activities, enforcing site-specific and OSHA standards at all times.
- Conduct regular safety walks and inspections, correcting unsafe conditions and reinforcing best practices with all field personnel and subcontractors.
- Lead day-to-day coordination of all MEP trades, ensuring manpower, sequencing, and workflow align with the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate material and equipment deliveries with subcontractors and vendors to keep work fronts open and productive.
- Monitor progress in the field, proactively addressing delays, constraints, and conflicts to maintain schedule and quality.
- Review mechanical and electrical submittals for compliance with drawings, specifications, and design intent.
- Identify and resolve field installation issues quickly, collaborating with subcontractors and the design team to implement effective solutions.
- Plan and run focused meetings for critical MEP activities (e.g., shutdowns, tie-ins, start-ups) to drive alignment and readiness.
- Oversee the quality control process for MEP systems, ensuring installations meet performance, code, and commissioning requirements.
- Assist project teams during preconstruction with input on MEP means, methods, and sequencing.
- Support the bidding process for mechanical and electrical scopes, helping evaluate trade partners and proposals.
- Manage and track MEP equipment procurement, from submittals and approvals through delivery and on-site readiness.
- Lead the startup and functional testing of mechanical and electrical systems in coordination with trades and vendors.
- Coordinate and support third-party commissioning agents, ensuring access, documentation, and test readiness.
- Own commissioning documentation in the field, making sure checklists, test reports, and closeout records are accurate, complete, and organized.
- Serve as a key on-site point of contact for the client, maintaining clear, consistent communication on progress, impacts, and upcoming work.
- Represent the company's values on site, building trust-based relationships with owners, facility staff, and partners.
The Successful Applicant
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction, or an equivalent mix of relevant education and field experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience specifically in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction.
- A minimum of 3 years' combined experience in one or more of the following:
- Mission Critical Construction
- Hospital/Healthcare Construction
- MEP Project Management
- Mechanical and Electrical System Startup and Commissioning
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction safety regulations, with a proven record of safe field operations.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore) and digital reporting tools for daily logs, RFIs, and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills and experience building, motivating, and directing field teams and subcontractors.
- Solid ability to plan, coordinate, and schedule MEP activities in alignment with the master project schedule.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
- Preconstruction and equipment procurement experience for MEP systems.
- Willingness and ability to work on site at client locations in the DC Metro area (this is a site-based role, not remote).
