Job Description
- Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and coordination analyses using industry-standard software.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, drawings, and technical reports for project delivery.
- Develop equipment selections and schedules for electrical systems and components.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Conduct site visits, field surveys, and existing building assessments to support project development.
- Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support throughout project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA standards, local building codes, and client requirements.
- Attend client meetings and collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Support project managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-8 years of experience in MEP consulting engineering.
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, laboratory, multifamily, life sciences, or mission-critical facilities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Experience with electrical analysis and design software such as SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and applicable building codes.
- EIT certification preferred; PE licence or ability to obtain licensure highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple priorities.
