Job Description
- Estimating & Cost Analysis
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment using estimating software and industry standards.
- Analyze construction methods and determine the most cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates depending on project stage.
- Create complete bid packages, proposals, and supporting cost documentation.
- Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers; analyze bids for accuracy and scope coverage.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable services.
- Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and clarify scope discrepancies.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and constraints.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and pre-bid walkthroughs.
- Assist in value engineering efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain organized estimate files, historical cost data, and pricing records.
- Prepare and present cost summaries, take-off reports, and bid comparison analyses.
- Support post-bid evaluations and handoffs to project teams.

The Successful Applicant
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
- 3-7 years of experience as an Estimator in commercial, residential, or industrial construction
- Strong understanding of construction practices, materials, and building systems.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, ProEst) and MS Office.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- General Knowledge of Building and Construction codes
- Should be based in New Haven, CT.
- Certification from AACE, ASPE, or similar professional estimating organization.
- Experience in design-build, competitive bid, and negotiated contract environments.
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements.
- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator
- Office-based with occasional jobsite visits as required.
