Michael Best is searching for a Financial Reporting Analyst for our Waukesha office. The Financial Reporting Analyst will play a critical part in supporting our financial operations by generating insightful reports, producing the Firm’s monthly reporting package, collaborating on the implementation of new financial technologies, and budgeting.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assist in the production of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages used to evaluate performance at the firm, practice group, client, or individual levels.
- Generate and maintain financial reports as needed
- Work with respective budget owners to prepare / consolidate budgets and develop G&A budget for annual firm budget
- Manage industry coding within accounting software to ensure proper mapping for effective and efficient reporting.
- Collect and summarize relevant data needed for surveys, RFP responses, peer group comparisons, client reporting requests, etc.
- Support team with attorney rate evaluation by reviewing external sources to analyze rate by geography, area of law, experience level, etc.
- Respond to ad hoc report requests from firm departments including but not limited to marketing, accounting, human resources, and business development
- Write and execute SQL queries to extract and manipulate financial data
- Interface with various financial applications to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Learn various reporting tools and develop new reporting formats as needed.
- Reconcile GL data and ensure proper expense coding.
- Support financial audit when necessary
- All other duties, as assigned by leadership.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge Base & Education:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, data science, or other comparable business or applied sciences discipline. May consider an associate degree or technical diploma with an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
- 1-3 years of financial/data analysis experience or law firm experience preferred.
- Intermediate Excel skills required, proficiency working with large sets of data, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, filters, graphing, etc.; Microsoft Office Suite incl. PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat PDF maker.
- Power BI experience or similar (SSRS, Business Objects) preferred.
- Very strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
- Professional client service manner, responsiveness, flexibility, and adaptability. Demonstrated “client first” mentality with well-developed customer service skills.
- Solid team player mentality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
