Role Description The Choir Director is a full-time, on-site position based in Miami, FL, responsible for leading and developing the school’s choral program. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting rehearsals, selecting appropriate repertoire, and preparing choirs for performances, concerts, and school events. The role involves teaching vocal technique, ensemble skills, and music literacy, as well as integrating music theory and arts education into the curriculum. The Choir Director collaborates with other arts and academic faculty, manages performance logistics, and maintains a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth and artistic excellence. Additional duties may include organizing auditions, assessing student progress, and participating in school-wide initiatives and meetings.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Music Theory and practical Music skills, with the ability to teach these concepts clearly to students.
- Experience in Music Education, preferably in a school or youth-focused setting, with skill in developing age-appropriate curriculum.
- Proficiency in Piano to support rehearsals, instruction, and performances.
- Background in choral conducting; experience with Church Music or other ensemble settings is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music, Music Education, Choral Conducting, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage ensembles, organize performances, and collaborate with colleagues, students, and families.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for concerts and school events.
- Jazz Vocal Experience a must.
