MGT is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for a client engagement within the public transportation industry. This role will lead multiple enhancement initiatives for a recently implemented Fare Collection System supporting both bus and light rail operations.
The selected candidate will manage a combination of operational improvement projects and larger strategic initiatives focused on payment modernization, reporting and analytics enhancements, and improved rider experience capabilities.
This position requires strong project leadership skills, enterprise software implementation experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups, vendors, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and enhancement projects for enterprise fare collection and payment systems
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and deliverables
- Coordinate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors
- Drive software implementation and operational improvement initiatives
- Support enhancements related to payment options, reporting capabilities, and customer experience improvements
- Facilitate communication across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with operational objectives
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience leading IT projects as a Project Manager
- Experience managing enterprise IT projects with budgets exceeding $5M
- Proven experience with software implementation projects
- Strong vendor management and stakeholder coordination skills
- Experience using project management tools and methodologies
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- PMI PMP Certification
- Experience with payment systems, payment card processing, or EMV technologies
- Public transportation or transit technology experience
- Experience supporting customer-facing technology platforms
- Background in enterprise system enhancements or digital transformation initiatives
