PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The LAN Network Engineer Senior manages the LAN network and configuration, installation and maintenance of the equipment to ensure network operations per the architected design at the MGM Properties, Convention Centers, Lots, Arenas, Guest Rooms and Gaming areas. The LAN Network Engineer Senior will also mentor, educate and guide junior members of the team on technology, service and process. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Installs, manages, maintains, and troubleshoots wired and wireless networks and infrastructure including: LAN, WAN, MAN switches, access points, wireless controllers, routers, fiber optic & UTP cabling.
• Troubleshoots user connectivity issues
• Documents network and cable plant infrastructure wired and wireless
• Maintain supporting documentation
• Configure, upgrade and install network equipment
• Engineer and design networks to customer specifications
• Engage with internal business units to manage and meet external customer expectations
• Mentors junior team members
• Guides processes for smooth operation and implementation
• Manage complex projects to meet business deliverables
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested
SUPERVISION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
• 3 years of networking and infrastructure experience
PREFERRED:
• Experience working in a similar resort setting
• Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary language
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Valid Michigan, Mississippi and Maryland Gaming License MAY be required
• CCNA or CCNP preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Applications, Email, Visio, Project, Excel, Work, Power Point
• Strong knowledge of networking troubleshooting and protocols
• Strong technical knowledge of Juniper and Cisco WAN, LAN Networks, Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco network & wireless platforms such as 68xx, 37xx, 55xx, 27xx, All Cisco and Aruba AP's, Nexus 3, 5, 7 & 9K's, load balancers, Palo Alto, Juniper and Cisco firewalls, MPLS, Multicast and RF.
• Strong technical knowledge of Wireless Networks (Cisco and Aruba)
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of Data Center Environments
• Ability to use and understand results of all test equipment used in network and cable testing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Understands corporate operating policies and procedures
• Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• On-call, personal vehicle for Inter property travel required, out of state travel required, reliable transportation required
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms
