Controller (Construction Industry)
Location: Meridian, ID (On-site)
Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 (Experience Based)

What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Controller with deep construction accounting expertise to take ownership of our financial operations. This role will have you working long hours and meeting tight deadlines, serious applicants should be aware of the paperwork burden thats comes with multimillion dollar federal projects. This position is not a typical 9-5, be ready to work hard and advance rapidly in your career.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not a bookkeeping position. The right candidate understands job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Own all accounting operations including job costing, WIP schedules, AR/AP, payroll coordination, and general ledger
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and project margin reports
- Maintain accurate percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Track under- and over-billings, retainage, and cash flow
- Lead monthly and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, lender, and bonding requirements
- Manage and optimize accounting systems (QuickBooks Online and Sage)
- Implement and enforce financial controls and procedures
- Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, tax advisors, and bonding partners
- Provide ownership with clear financial insight for decision-making and growth planning
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting or 10 years of accounting experience within a construction company
- Masters Degree Finance or Accounting and 5 years of accounting experience within a construction company
- Job costing
- WIP reporting
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online and preferrably Sage
- Experience managing books for multi-project environments
- Strong understanding of construction cash flow, retainage, and billing cycles
- Financial projections and reporting (This is a must)
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of financial operations
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Preferred (Not Required)
- Prior experience as a Controller or Senior Construction Accountant
- CPA or equivalent accounting credential
- Experience supporting companies $20M in annual revenue
- Familiarity with bonding, lender reporting, or federal / healthcare construction
