Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Controller to lead our accounting department and play a strategic role in guiding the financial health of our organization. The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. They will also play a key role in the company’s budgeting and forecasting processes. This individual will serve as a key business partner to leadership, ensuring the integrity of financial data, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic decision-making across the company. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to drive growth and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain compliance with Financial Accounting Standards Board (GAAP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Oversee audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure successful outcomes.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Establish, monitor, and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through proactive analysis and oversight.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and oversee banking relationships.
- Develop strategies to optimize liquidity, manage debt, and maximize return on financial assets.
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and collaboration.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support professional development initiatives.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial systems and tools to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, policies, and procedures to support scaling operations.
Merger & Acquisition Integration
- Support the integration of accounting processes and systems after a M&A candidate has been acquired. This will include meetings with the management and accounting team of the acquiror and creating a short- and long-term strategy to consolidate that acquisition into the broader business.
- Map and integrate the chart of accounts of the acquisition to PCS and oversee the accounting for each acquisition so that the consolidated financial statements are produced in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 8 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or controller-level role.
- Multi-entity accounting expertise: PCS plans to grow quickly through both organic and inorganic avenues. Experience with integrating the accounting function (processes, systems, practices) will be a key part of the role. Experience with oversight of a team that has developed and performed that task will be important.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite, or similar ERP systems; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. New system implementation experience is a plus.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and build strong collaborative relationships. Working across functions will be an important part of the job.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail with a strategic mindset.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
