MGC is an industry leading civil litigation firm celebrating 31 years of excellence spanning 22 offices across 12 states.
We are seeking to add a full-time Payroll Specialist (UltiPro/UKG) to support our growing firm. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of multi-state as well as multiple cycle, payroll processing experience. Experience processing payroll in UKG is strongly preferred. The Payroll Specialist will manage all payroll functions for MGC. The right candidate is looking for a stable and long-term commitment and is comfortable and at ease working either in groups or solo. After initial onboarding and training in our Columbia, SC office, this position will have flexibility to work remotely.
Job Duties:
- Processes timely and accurate payroll for both salaried and hourly employees (separate cycles) in UKG.
- Provides timely assistance to internal team members’ inquiries and requests for assistance.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues with a sense of urgency and provide recommendations to resolve issues for the long-term.
- Provide all post-payroll required reports to Accounting team.
- Work with Accounting to reconcile all payroll and payroll-related accounts.
- Track all activities related to garnishments and wage attachments for multiple states.
- Complete periodic audits of 401(k), HSA, and FSA contributions to ensure compliance with annual limits.
- Assist with annual audits such as 401(k) testing and Worker’s Compensation insurance.
- Assist with the monthly payroll budget.
- Provide payroll-related reporting as needed.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or a related discipline.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills within all levels of the organization.
- Possess and apply fundamental payroll and accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to be self-motivated, to multi-task, prioritize and achieve time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to partner with diverse teams and learn from others.
- Minimum 2 years of multi-state payroll processing experience, ideally in mid-size organization.
- Experience processing payroll in UKG is strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with precise attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of current state tax and overtime laws for multiple states.
- Ability to handle confidential information and be sensitive to personal situations.
