The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accurately maintaining financial records, complying with company policies and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, reconciling bank account statements, balancing ledger reports, and working with the controller to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, etc.). In addition, assisting with various other tasks based on business need such as payroll, mining and analyzing data for financial reports, etc.

Job Purpose & Summary
Meyer Lab is seeking a technical and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accurately maintaining financial records, complying with company policies and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, reconciling bank account statements, balancing ledger reports, and working with the controller to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, etc.). In addition, assisting with various other tasks based on business need such as payroll, mining and analyzing data for financial reports, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance.
- Enter accounting information into financial, ledger, and business logs.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage fixed assets and depreciation
- Reconcile bank account statements
- Prepare preliminary and final monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, etc.)
- Maintain federal and state income tax accounts and assist in gathering information to file tax returns with tax accounting firm.
- File multi-state sales tax returns.
- and assist with gathering and preparing information for filing tax returns.
- Prepare and complete daily cash reconciliation.
- Complete the month end close out process.
- Distribute monthly distribution checks.
- Submit monthly borrowing base verification to bank.
- Complete monthly payable from Canada Meyer to U.S. Meyer.
- Complete weekly positive pay upload to bank.
- Maintain and reconcile the petty cash box.
- Knowledge of other position duties within finance/accounting team, cross train and support as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum of one year of accounting experience.
- Solid knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- Demonstrated analytical abilities to help drive robust financial discussions.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Advanced Excel skills) and ERP system
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- High performer and problem solver that is a self-starter with personal accountability and follow-through.
- No Travel.
- Desk and computer work required.
- Lifting required up to 50 lbs.
