Position Summary
A well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and water resources projects is seeking a Stormwater Project Engineer to join its growing team.
The firm works across a diverse portfolio of transportation, infrastructure, and stormwater projects, partnering with public agencies, municipalities, and private-sector clients to deliver technically rigorous and practical engineering solutions. The successful engineer will play an important role in project delivery, providing technical leadership and coordinating stormwater and drainage projects from initial project development through final design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support drainage design, including storm sewers, culverts, water quality facilities, open channels, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater permitting.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to produce high-quality, complete, and accurate engineering deliverables.
- Work within a collaborative, team-oriented environment and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's stormwater and water resources practice.
- Take responsibility for project delivery across stormwater, drainage, and transportation-related projects.
- Apply local, state, and federal stormwater management and drainage design standards.
- Prepare erosion control and stormwater management plans.
- Develop technical specifications and reports and provide engineering support throughout construction.
- Serve as a key drainage technical liaison with clients, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Contribute to the firm's continued development of innovative and sustainable stormwater and infrastructure solutions.
Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the relevant jurisdiction, or the ability to obtain registration within an agreed timeframe.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of 4 years of drainage, stormwater, or water resources design experience.
- Experience with some or all of the following:
- OpenRoads Designer (ORD) / SUDA
- Civil 3D / Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA)
- CivilStorm
- SRH-2D
- HEC-RAS
- HEC-RAS 2D
- HY-8
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with transportation departments, local municipalities, and local, state, or federal regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with GIS and geospatial applications.
- Proficiency in some or all of the following:
