About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Preconstruction to lead estimating and pre-construction efforts across a growing portfolio of data centre projects. This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on delivering complex, high-value builds. Career-defining projects!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full preconstruction process across multiple data centre projects
- Oversee, mentor, and grow a team of estimators, including hiring and performance management
- Develop subcontractor strategies and manage bid processes, including go/no-go decisions
- Produce conceptual estimates and drive value engineering throughout design development
- Support business development and client engagement efforts
- Establish project budgets and objectives for high-value projects (ÂŁ15M /equivalent)
- Oversee financial performance (WIP, AP/AR, quarterly reviews) and project handovers
- Implement and optimise tools and systems (e.g. Procore) to improve delivery
Requirements
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or similar
- 10 years’ experience in pre-construction/estimating
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Strong experience delivering data centre projects
- Proficiency in estimating and business software (e.g. Bluebeam, MS Office, Buildr)
- Experience working for a General Contractor strongly preferred
- Strong commercial awareness and financial oversight experience
