The Energy Marshal is responsible for managing hazardous energy control activities across a large-scale data center construction project. Working closely with construction, commissioning, and trade partners, the Energy Marshal ensures all energy isolation, energization, and electrical safety activities are planned, coordinated, and executed safely in accordance with project procedures and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the site's Hazardous Energy Control (HEC) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programme.
- Coordinate energy isolations and system energizations with construction and commissioning teams.
- Verify safe isolation of electrical and mechanical systems prior to work commencing.
- Conduct field audits and ensure compliance with project safety standards and client requirements.
- Maintain energy isolation documentation, permits, and LOTO records.
- Deliver LOTO training and support subcontractors in safe energy control practices.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical construction, commissioning, or industrial safety.
- Previous experience on data centre, mission-critical, or industrial manufacturing projects is strongly preferred!
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, hazardous energy control, and commissioning processes.
- Experience coordinating LOTO activities on complex, multi-contractor construction sites.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA, or equivalent electrical safety standards.
- Strong communication, planning, and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
