This position is contingent upon sufficient funding and enrollment.Special Education Administrator - Marsh Grammar SchoolQUALIFICATIONS: Massachusetts license as a special education administratorMaster's degree in special education from an accredited institution with significant coursework/study in the field of educational administrationMinimum of 5 years experience in public educationExcellent written and verbal communication skills with parents, outside agencies and staffDemonstrated ability to supervise special education program and staffKnowledgeable about state and federal special education lawsPrevious administrative and supervisory experience preferredOutstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualificationsGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of all special education students requiring services and programming in out of district placements. He/she will be expected to coordinate the special education process He/she is responsible for the following: managing the paper processes and education plans; maintaining timely communication with parents, out of district placements, and outside agencies; monitoring the general performance of special education students within the school; implementing new processes and procedures as dictated by changes in federal special education law; assist in the Medicaid reimbursement process; participate in relevant professional development activities; and making sure that parent concerns and problems are dealt with in a timely, responsive, and proactive manner. He/she is also expected to attend all special education administrators meetings. He/she is also responsible for the following: researching alternate placement options for special education students; coordinating the transition of special education students to and from outside placements; ensuring the the preparation and sending of all essential documents for transition; observing special education students in various settings, including those students in out of district placements; implementing procedures for placement, evaluation and re-evaluation of students; assists in the preparation of the out of district budget; completes all necessary Page 2 of 2 documents required for circuit breaker.
